CARDIAC SCREENING
NKEMS, an affiliate of Parent Heart Watch, is offering Cardiac Screening
for our youth and young adults. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) claims
thousands of young American lives each year. Over 425 American children
are dying every month from SCA. These seemingly healthy children
die suddenly and unexpectantly from heart problems that can often
be detected with a simple, painless, non-invasive test called an
electrocardiogram (EKG). Sudden Cardiac Arrest simply has no conscience…It
can occur anywhere, anytime. SCA is the leading cause of death in
young athletes, but non athletes are also at risk. Many of the young
people who have died from SCA exhibited no prior symptoms and no
one was aware that there might be a heart problem. EKGs are not a
routine part of a child’s physical, and are not covered by
health insurance unless there is a history of cardiac symptoms.
The Cardiac Screening will include:
Blood Pressure
Medical and Family History
Electrocardiogram (EKG)
